Description
Life offers us countless crossroads, each capable of shaping our path in ways we rarely foresee. Even the smallest, most insignificant choices can unleash storms in the distance. Rain is longed for on scorching days and cursed on stormy nights — just as our minds claim to know the answers while our hearts insist on leading us elsewhere. For a seventeen-year-old girl, one such choice turns into a nightmare: four boys are dead, and she is the prime suspect. As she recounts her past to the lead detective, a web of love, betrayal, and buried horrors slowly comes to light. Between present-day interrogation and the memories she cannot escape, she fights to uncover the truth: Who were those boys really? Why was it he, of all people, who left the deepest wound? In the end, only one question remains: How much truth can a heart endure once it has already begun to break?

Author Notes
I wrote this story during the Covid pandemic. It was a time when I—like all of you—was socially isolated, but also emotionally cut off from my surroundings. In that quiet, enclosed period, I had the chance to turn inward and reflect on my past—on all the mistakes I had made, born from nothing more than misguided choices. I had written before, and I hope I will continue to write until the end of my days; but the idea for this book came to me precisely then. I wanted to gather all my feelings and thoughts and manifest them in a single story. That is how “Mental Quarantine” came to life. My hope is that, as you read, you will confront your own self—your shadows, your doubts—and perhaps, in the end, find a measure of peace with them.
