Description
In the beginning, gods walked the earth. Then they were buried beneath time… Eighty years after fire consumed the world, historian Moira Theon knows what destroyed Athens, but no one believes her. While the world clings to theories of weapons and terrorism, she’s spent years gathering proof of something far more ancient and terrifying. Something that will return. When Moira uncovers a hidden artifact beneath the Acropolis, it awakens abilities she never knew she possessed and attracts the attention of powers who want her silenced. Suddenly she’s thrust into a race through history itself, hunted by a rival who will kill to keep the past buried. Her only guide is the last person she should trust: a prisoner who’s been locked outside of time for four thousand years, a man with storm-gray eyes and secrets that could unravel reality. He knows where to find the one thing that can stop the coming destruction. She’s the only one who can get them there. But as they jump through the centuries, witnessing the events that shattered the world, the truth becomes more devastating than Moira imagined. The first gods made choices that echo across millennia. Loves that transcended death. Betrayals that broke everything. And as Moira and her companion grow closer with each jump through time, she begins to suspect their connection runs deeper than chance. That some threads were woven long before she was born. That the price of saving the world might be higher than either of them can bear. The gods fell once. Now the choice falls to her. I'm Nicole Kimber, an Oregon-based author who's been spinning yarns since I could hold a crayon. When I'm not crafting suspenseful literary fiction with a dash of romance (for that extra razzle-dazzle), you'll find me either reading books from my favorite authors or chasing after my energetic kids who, incidentally, are my biggest inspiration. Their unwavering belief in me became the proof that sometimes all we need is a little courage and support to overcome our darkest chapters-much like my protagonists. My narrative style brings characters to life, though I firmly deny using witchcraft to do so. I'm living proof that with enough coffee and kid-courage, anyone can turn their elementary school writing dreams into a full-fledged novel.
