Shortly after the events of Robin's death, the criminally insane Joker goes into hiding, fearing the wrath of the Dark Knight. After some time, the Batman himself stops responding to his familiar signal, leaving the Gotham City Police Department to fend for themselves. Many years later when the leader of a feared Crime Syndicate escapes Arkham Asylum, it is time for a new Batman to take the helm and Kyler Masterson, the son of a local billionaire, steps up to the challenge. But when old ghosts rise again and the weight of wearing the cowl becomes too heavy he begins to wonder if being the symbol of Gotham is worth his life.
