In the year 2152, in the sprawling city of Burnsborough, a game exists that is much more sinister than the innocent Hide N' Seek. It is called Hunt N' Seek, and it has a twisted purpose. The game is an experimental simulation in which participants fight for their rightful spot in the upgraded housing levels, ordered by law by the city's king, High King Whilson. This year, all bets are off, and anyone can sign up to play the game and win a new house. But there's a catch: you cannot escape the game, and you must play all the way down to the very last survivor or risk being sent to the Gallows where the homeless live. Calliope Hayes is a young woman who writes to the king asking to be placed in the game. She is the second oldest in the Hayes family, and her older sister Halliopal went missing three years prior after winning the game that year. Calliope sees this as an opportunity to find herself and maybe even uncover what happened to her sister. As Calliope enters the game, she realizes that it is much deadlier than she ever imagined. High King Whilson is not only responsible for founding the horrible law but also chooses members of each unit. The game is designed to kill, and it is a deadly secret from any outsiders. Calliope battles for her very soul as she is forced to take lives, be hardened by nature, and collectively survive an assassination inside the game. Her worst nightmares and most desired dreams come alive as she fights for survival. The conflict rises as Calliope struggles to keep her humanity intact while playing a game that forces her to become something she's not. She meets other players who have their own motives and secrets, making her question everything she knows about herself and the game. As the game progresses, Calliope discovers that there are hidden agendas at play, and she must navigate the dangerous terrain of the game to uncover them.
